In today’s world, where digital technologies permeate every aspect of life, cybersecurity is more relevant than ever. Teaching cybersecurity in higher education is a vital step in preparing professionals to face the challenges of the modern world.
During September – October 2024, as part of the course “Modern Information Systems and Technologies in Economics,” first-year students enrolled in the Accounting and Taxation and Financial Security programmes gained valuable insights into digital safety. They learned how to prevent cyberattacks and protect data online by completing the Cyber Nanny training course on the Diia. Education platform.
The course covered the following modules:
- Passwords and two-factor authentication
- Software updates and their importance
- Safe use of popular messaging apps and their settings
- Securing home Wi-Fi routers
- Backups: how to create and store them
- Encryption: practical examples of use
- Internet payment security
- Social engineering: phishing (emails, SMS, websites), vishing, baiting
- Careful sharing of sensitive information online
- OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence).
By completing the course, students acquired the knowledge and skills essential for navigating the modern digital economy.
