On January 21, 2011. an opening ceremony of a project entitled “Listening to the radio! – Radio programme presenter, master of ceremonies training in Transcarpathia” was held.
On January 22, 2011. an exhibition of Hungarian photographers running under the headline “Roots (Impressions of Transcarpathia)” was launched.
On February 14, 2011. with the assistance of the International Visegrad Fund a photography exhibition titled “Multiculturalism in everyday life” was open, presenting photographs of university / college students, lecturers, researchers and other employees of the four countries.
On February 18, 2011 a Carnival Charity Ball was organized in order raise money for the renovation of the institute’s roof by Hungarian Consulate of Ungvár, Hungarian Consulate of Beregszász and the Ferenc Rákóczi II. Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute. At the opening of the charity ball István Szávay, member of parliament, on behalf of Hungarian ultra-right movement Jobbik, gave one million dollar donation to the institute’s management.
On March 9, 2011 the institute hosted an exhibition titled “Faces of Beregszász of 40s, 50s, 60s” in honour of József Garanyi.
On March 14, 2011 during his visit to Transcarpathia – escorted by József Basckai, Hungarian Consule General of Ungvár and István Tóth, Hungarian Consule General of Beregszász – György Naszvadi, The Minister of State for Public Finance Ministry of National Economy, came for a visit to the Ferenc Rákóczi II. Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute.
On March 14, 2011 Commemoration of the March 15th took place in the big hall of the Transcarpathian Regional Hungarian Drama Theatre under the auspices of the Ferenc Rákóczi II. Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute and Cuharé Cultural Association for Public Service (Szeged). Cuharé Dance Workshop of Szeged gave a performance.

On March 22, 2011 the VI. International Meeting of Choirs of higher education establishments was held.
On March 24, 2011 to mark the 300th anniversary of the Szatmár peace treaty ending the Rákóczi War of Independence an international scientific conference entitled “Glorious Epoch of Rákóczi” was organized.
On March 26, 2011 the VI. Meeting of the institute’s graduates took place.
On April 5, 2011 Anikó Lévai, Goodwill Ambassador of the Hungarian Interchurch Aid, wife of Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of Hungary, paid a visit to the institute.
On April 27, 2011 The Hungarian Parliament’s national unity committee held their first “behind the boarder” meeting at the Ferenc Rákóczi II. Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute, Beregszász. The meeting was attended by members of the committee, including members of the Hungarian Parliament, delegates of organisations supporting Transcarpathian Hungarians and historical Church, Transcarpathian diplomats representing the Hungarian Republic.
On May 5 –7, 2011 in collaboration with Ukrainian and Hungarian establishments of higher education an International Scientific Conference entitled “Renewal of education: the 21st century paradigms” was held in the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute (Beregszász).
On May 20, 2011 a parade of the town schools to mark the celebration of the Beregszász Town Day took place. For the first time the faculty and students of the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute paraded through the town together with the secondary and technical vocational schools. The highlight of the event became unfurling of the flag in commemoration of the beginning of the Rákóczi Independance War by the institute’s students who were clad in historic costumes.
On June 2, 2011 the Knight’s Cross Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, the most prestigious award of Hungary was conferred on Kálmán Soós, Rector of the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute by Zsolt Németh, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Zsuzsanna Répás, Deputy Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, József Bacskai and István Tóth, Consuls General of Hungary in Ungvár and Beregszász, and finally Ildikó Orosz, Chairperson of the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute were present at the ceremonial meeting.
On July 5, 2011 Dr Kálmán Soós, the former Rector of the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute and Head of the Ungvár Basic Organisation of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association, passed away. Dr Kálmán Soós played a leading role in the life of the Transcarpathian Hungarian community and their higher education establishment, leaving rich legacy to future generations owing to his important contribution to science.
On July 8, 2011 by tradition an End-of-Year and Degree Award Ceremony was held in the Reformed Church of Beregszász. At the celebration guests of honour were Katalin Ljubka, representing Ministry of Civil Service and Judiciary, Árpád Gyetvai, Ministry of National Resources, József Bacskai, Consul General of Hungary in Ungvár, István Tóth, Consul General of Hungary in Beregszász, Rectors and Deans of numerous higher education establishments in the Carpathian Basin, representatives of the historic Churches, as well as local public figures who play an important role in the life of the Hungarians living in Transcarpathia.
300 graduates were awarded degrees officially recognized in Ukraine, among which were 191 Bachelor degrees, 109 – university degrees (Diplom Specialist), as well as one degree with honours in mathematics (BsC).
On July 19, 2011 twelve graduates of the faculty of accounting and audit were awarded with degrees in the Győr Hall of the Institute’s main building. The ceremony was attended by István Tóth, Consul General of Hungary in Beregszász, professor Iván Mándrik, Head of the State Examination Board, Károly Berki, Office Manager of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Pedagogical Association, Ildikó Orosz, Chairperson of the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute, Jenő Barkáts and István Csernicskó, the institute’s Vice Rectors, Attila Kohut, Head of the Ferenc Kölcsey Special Course.
On August 1, 2011 Dr József Szikura was appointed Rector of the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute according to the decision of the Conference of the Foundation for the Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute.
In September, 2011 the Natural Science Research Institute named after István Fodor, a new science workshop was set up at the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute.
On September 30, 2011 Reformed Theological Academy of Sárospatak and the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute signed a collaboration agreement in Beregszász in Rákóczi hall, according to which a deligated pastor of Reformed Theological Academy of Sárospatak is to launch a course in the institute, which would commence in October the same year.
On October 1, 2011 the Centre for Adult Education of Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute held its academic-year-opening ceremony.
On October 3, 2011 an Academic Year Opening Ceremony of the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute took place in the Reformed Church of Beregszász. Pál Schmitt, President of the Republic of Hungary, honoured the celebration with his presence.
On October 13, 2011 an exhibition of postage stamps titled “Hungary introduces itself through Hungarian Post Office stamps of EU presidium period” was launched.
On October 19, 2011 Dr. Anikó Lévai, Goodwill Ambassador of the Hungarian Interchurch Aid, delivered a lecture on the new project of Goodwill Charitable Organization entitled „Developmental Assistance” at the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute.
On October 20, 2011 a photographic exhibition titled “Turul Statues in the Carpathian Basin” was opened at the institute.
On October 22, 2011 Renewable energy sources advisor educational programme was launched at the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute under the auspices of PannonForrás First Development and Knowledge Cluster in the Carpathian Basin, which was sponsored by Gábor Bethlen Foundation.
On October 21, 2011 a grand vintage ball has been held for the third time at the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute. The entrance fee was as usual the price of one roof tile.
On October 27, 2011 the first meeting of the newly elected members of the Hungarian Science Abroad Presidential Committee was held in Budapest. Among many other decisions, the board reached a unanimous decision to award posthumously János Arany medal to Kálmán Soós, the prematurely deceased Rector of the II Ferenc Rákóczi Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute and the former member of the Hungarian Science Abroad Presidential Committee.
On November 3, 2011 on the occasion of the Day of Hungarian Science the Institute of Social Research LIMES, the Tivadar Lehoczky Institute, the Antal Hodinka Institute, as well as the Natural Science Research Institute named after István Fodor organized a programme entitled “Scientific workshops in the service of Transcarpathian Hungarian science”.
On November 8, 2011 Dr. János Hovári, Deputy State Secretary for Global Affairs of Hungary, came for a visit to the institute.
On November 12, 2011 the VI. Transcarpathian Scientific Student Conference was jointly organized by the II Ferenc Rákóczi Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute and Charitable Foundation “GENIUS”.
In November, 2011 an automatic weather station was set up at the institute.
On November 25, 2011 celebration of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute was held.
On November 24, 2011 commemoration of the 100th birth anniversary of Greek-Catholic martyred bishop Blessed Theodore Romzha, 75th anniversary of his ordination and 10th anniversary of sanctification took place at the institute.
On November 24, 2011 an exhibition entitled “Seals and Arms of Transcarpathian settlements” was launched at the institute.
On December 2, 2011 in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Liszt Ferenc’s birth Christmas Concert was jointly organized by the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute and the Pro Cultura Subcarpathia Civil Organization.
