Students of the Department of Accounting and Auditing of Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College of Higher Education — Among the TOP-10 Semifinalists of the Modul Business Championship 2025 in Vienna
From April 24 to 27, 2025, a team of undergraduate (Bachelor’s programme in Accounting and Taxation) and graduate students (Master’s programme in International Accounting and Taxation) from the Department of Accounting and Auditing proudly represented the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College of Higher Education in the semifinal round of the Modul Business Championship 2025, held at Modul University Vienna (Austria).
The Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College of Higher Education team (named “TAX Sharks”) consisted of:
- Batori Vivien – 1st-year Master’s student (International Accounting and Taxation)
- Shimon Vivien – 1st-year Master’s student (International Accounting and Taxation)
- Barta Szintia – 2nd-year Bachelor’s student (Accounting and Taxation)
Team advisor: Dr. Loskorikh Gabriella, PhD in Accounting and Taxation, Associate Professor. Deputy Head of the Department of Accounting and Auditing.
Selected for the semifinals based on the results of the first competition round (March 2025) and the quality of their case presentation, the team showcased an impressive level of both theoretical knowledge and practical competence.
As part of the semifinal challenge, the team developed a concept for a mobile banking application for teenagers focused on financial literacy, supported by a financial and economic justification for the product’s feasibility. All case studies and the defense of the innovative projects were conducted in English, underscoring the team’s high level of language and professional proficiency. Presentations were evaluated by an international jury composed of representatives from leading universities and business sectors.
The Rákóczi team was ranked among the TOP-10 best teams of the competition, receiving recognition alongside teams from Hungary, Romania, Serbia, and Austria. This is a powerful testament to the global competitiveness of students in the international academic environment.
Participation in the Modul Business Championship is a milestone event for both students and the educational institution. The competition serves as a prestigious international platform that unites young innovators and future professionals in business, economics, accounting, and finance from across Europe. Through real-world cases and modern business challenges, students gain the opportunity to:
- apply their skills in practice-oriented settings;
- improve teamwork, time management, and strategic thinking;
- present ideas in English before an international audience;
- receive expert feedback that supports their future career growth.
We sincerely thank the organizers for creating a space where students can strengthen both their hard and soft skills, work in an international environment, foster entrepreneurial thinking, and gain experience that will significantly contribute to their professional trajectory.
For mentors, participation in the championship was a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences with colleagues from other countries, refine teaching methods, and establish new academic and professional connections.
