Pécs Summer School – a student of the Philology Department among the participants from all over the world

My name is Khrystyna Mohoryta and I am a third-year student majoring in “Secondary Education. English Language and World Literature” at the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College of Higher Education. This summer I had a wonderful opportunity to take part in the Leadership Skills Summer School, which was held in the beautiful city of Pécs, Hungary. From the very first day, when we arrived at the university campus, the mentors welcomed us warmly. They helped us to get to know each other and the city. On the first evening we even visited the famous Festival of Light, which was an amazing experience.

The next day the program started officially. We met our teachers, professors and “classmates,” and then the lessons began. We attended many interesting and useful classes, such as the Psychology of Leadership, Time Management, the Role of Motivation in Leadership. We created our own strategies and analyzed the leadership styles of famous politicians. The professors also prepared activities and trainings, which gave us the chance to use the new knowledge in practice.

Besides the classes, we had a rich cultural program. We took a sightseeing tour with the popular DOTTO train, enjoyed a traditional Hungarian dinner, tasted local wines and visited historical places of Pécs. Later, during an international training, we used this knowledge while completing creative tasks and learning more about each other and the traditions of different countries.

Our free time was also very active. We joined sport days, played darts, visited the beautiful Orfű Lake and took part in dragon boat races, where teamwork and good tactics helped us. One more unforgettable experience was the dance evening, when we learned several Hungarian folk dances.

I am very grateful to this program, because it gave me not only useful knowledge about leadership and Hungarian culture, but also new friends from all over the world. They became very close to me in such a short time.
