Academic Integrity Week and the 9th Student Economic Science Conference at the Department of Accounting and Auditing

At the Department of Accounting and Auditing of Rákóczi College, organizing the Academic Integrity Week has become an annual tradition. The initiative aims to promote the principles of academic integrity among students and encourage a responsible approach to learning and future professional activities. This year’s events took place from December 2 to 6, 2024, featuring a variety of programs designed to highlight the importance of integrity, transparency, and mutual trust in the academic environment.

The main event of the week was the 9th Student Economic Science Conference, held on December 6, 2024, at the Department of Accounting and Auditing of the Rákóczi College. The conference, which included participation from first-year students of the undergraduate programs (Accounting and Taxation, Finance, Banking, Insurance, and Stock Exchange), was organized for the ninth time and forms an integral part of the department’s research activities.

A total of 26 students delivered engaging and informative presentations, covering a wide range of challenging topics in economic sciences. The conference participants presented studies on subjects such as the peculiarities of accounting in Ukraine and globally, a comparison of IFRS and US GAAP accounting standards, tax accounting and its impact on a company’s financial performance, the cooperation between Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund, the emergence and development of financial management, financial literacy, financial fraud, blockchain and cryptocurrencies, cybersecurity, and more.

The conference was conducted in both Ukrainian and Hungarian. Over time, it has evolved into a platform for developing students’ scientific research, promoting innovative forms of extracurricular activities, and encouraging young people to actively engage in academic pursuits. The Department of Accounting and Auditing supports student research through scientific activities. For BSc students, the focus is on “Research: The functioning of accounting, financial, and economic aspects at the micro-, meso-, and macroeconomic levels of enterprises” (led by Gabriella Loszkorih). For master’s students, the focus is on “The development of accounting, analysis, auditing, and the improvement of taxation in connection with Ukraine’s integration into the international community” (led by Veronika Hanuszics).
