Academic Integrity Week at the Accounting and Auditing Department of the Rákóczi College
Academic integrity is an essential component of ensuring high-quality higher education at the Ferenc Rakoczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College of Higher Education. It is not merely a requirement but also a cultural cornerstone that unites everyone involved in the educational process.
The Academic Integrity Week has commenced at the Accounting and Auditing Department of the Rákóczi College, involving students from the undergraduate programs (Accounting and Taxation, Finance, Banking, Insurance, and Stock Exchange) and the master’s program (International Accounting and Taxation), as well as the department’s academic staff.
As part of Academic Integrity Week, a variety of engaging lectures, training sessions, and interactive meetings are planned to foster a culture of academic integrity among participants in the educational process, as trust, respect, and responsibility can only be established through collective effort.
The first stage of the program was a lecture titled Academic Integrity and Artificial Intelligence, held on December 3, 2024. The event’s speaker, Ádám Daróci, administrator of the institution’s plagiarism detection system, provided valuable advice on writing and citing academic papers, while also contributing to enhancing the students’ academic motivation. Participants were introduced to the academic integrity policy, the principle of respecting intellectual property, the ethical use of artificial intelligence, the specifics of accountability for breaches of academic integrity, and online platforms for self-checking academic texts for plagiarism. The lecture became a scientific forum for discussions on the current challenges of academic integrity, particularly in relation to the active use of the latest technologies. Participants gained a clear understanding of how to balance innovation with ethical principles.
The Accounting and Auditing Department of the Rákóczi College continues to introduce innovative forms of interaction for higher education students, equipping them with the knowledge and practical skills necessary for ethical and professional activities.
We thank Ádám Daróci for his insightful and valuable lecture!
