Accounting and Finance Students and Faculty in Jean Monnet Erasmus Virtual Mobility Program
During March 12, 2024, to April 9, 2024, faculty from the Department of Accounting and Auditing, along with students enrolled in the bachelor’s programs of “Accounting and Taxation” and “Financial Security” as well as those in the master’s program “International Accounting and Taxation”, participated in the Virtual Mobility Program “EU-Ukraine Best Practices for Achieving SDGs”, as part of the Jean Monnet Erasmus project.
The project aimed to explore and disseminate the best practices of EU countries in achieving sustainable development goals. Participants engaged with various topics, including EU accounting trends shifting towards sustainability, lessons from the EU’s sustainable financing strategy, and experiences in EU sustainable development policy. Additionally, they delved into discussions on blockchain’s significance in accounting and auditing, as well as the role of soil in achieving sustainable development goals, drawing insights from the experiences of the EU, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine.
As part of the project, faculty and students seized the opportunity to undertake the online course “Transparency, Accountability, and Sustainable Development of Business on the Path to European Integration”. The course covered foundational concepts of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the EU and Ukraine, legislative landscapes, financing tools, sustainable development accounting, reporting standards, practices for ensuring and verifying sustainable development reporting, and benchmarks for sustainable development.
This comprehensive online course comprised engaging lectures, practical case exercises, a sustainable development goals-based game, educational videos, reading materials, and supplementary courses for deeper exploration of sustainable development standards.
The project’s diverse and enriching program broadened participants’ perspectives beyond traditional accounting and financial disciplines, substantially enhancing their professional competencies, as attested by the certificates they received.
