Bachelor students of the Department of Accounting and Auditing participated in the semi-final of an international competition in Vienna

On May 10-11, 2024, two teams of bachelor students from the programs ‘Accounting and Taxation’ and ‘Financial Security’ took part in the semi-final of the Modul Business Championship international competition in Vienna, hosted by Modul University.

The teams for the semi-final were selected based on the evaluation of case study presentation results in the first round, which took place in April of the current year.

In total, over 50 teams from different countries participated in the qualifying first round of the competition, from which 8 were selected as the best according to 12 criteria. An international jury composed of representatives from higher education institutions and businesses evaluated presentations. It is noteworthy that two teams of the FR II THCHE made it to the semi-final, competing against six teams from various universities of Hungary, Romania, Serbia, and Vienna.

All case study tasks and the defense of innovative projects were presented in English.

The first team included 4th-year students from the “Accounting and Taxation” program: Regina-Letisia Barta, Eleonora Marcenjuk, and Antonia Kovach (mentor: PhD, Assoc. Prof. Gabriella Loskorikh). The second team consisted of 4th-year student Patricia Kovrodi and two 2nd-year students from the ‘Financial Security’ program, namely Dorina Shomodi and Fanni Grimut (mentor: D.Sc., Prof. Nina Poyda-Nosyk).

We express sincere gratitude to the organizers of the competition, particularly Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) and Modul University, for providing students with the opportunity to participate in an international competition, gain invaluable experience, and explore new perspectives for further development of hard and soft skills. Special thanks to the Beregszász MCC center for helping with the organization process and ensuring the smooth running of the trip.

For mentors, participation in this competition was also a great opportunity to exchange experiences, enhance pedagogical skills, and expand international connections with representatives of the academic and business communities.
