First year undergraduate students begin their studies
The academic year has started at the Ferenc Rakoczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College of Higher Education. On September 2, first year undergraduate students participated in several orientation sessions, where they were introduced to our institution, our teachers, and their fellow students.
Starting at 9:00 AM, students attended a general and safety briefing, which was attended by Ildikó Orosz, the president of the college, and vice-rectors Sándor Berghauer and János Csizmár.
“Our college is a non-state, foundation-based educational institution established and maintained by Hungarian organizations in Transcarpathia. The mission of our college is to give everyone the opportunity to become trilingual, as it is important to know our mother tongue, the local language, and an internationally recognized foreign language. I wish you much success in mastering them,”
greeted the attendees, president Ildikó Orosz.
In his welcome speech, vice-rector János Csizmár assured the students that those who were admitted to the college will study under proper conditions, with access to modern facilities.
“I would like to share three thoughts for today. First, our new students will integrate into a completely new system, which is significantly different from what they experienced in high school. The sooner they learn the rules of our institution, the sooner they can become full-fledged students. The second point is about information, because today, obtaining, understanding, and using information correctly is crucial. Third is the community—our college forms a community, and within it, you, dear first-year students, will become members of various smaller groups and units. I hope you will find your place in our community soon,”
highlighted vice-rector Sándor Berghauer, before outlining the day’s remaining schedule.
Afterwards, Vaszil Maszljanik, the head of the Occupational Health and Technical Safety Department, gave a briefing on life and workplace safety, and the opportunities for optional courses were also discussed.
Later in the day, new students attended departmental orientations, where they met with department heads, curators, and colleagues. They were also introduced to the workings of the library, IT center, and sports center.
We warmly welcome all students to Rákóczi College! We wish everyone a productive and successful academic year!
