Master’s students of the Educational Program “International Accounting and Taxation” successfully completed the courses “English for Business and Entrepreneurship” and “English for Career Development” on the Prometheus platform
Masters of the International Accounting and Taxation Programme continue to join non-formal education opportunities and have successfully completed their studies and received certificates in “English for Business and Entrepreneurship” and “English for Career Development” courses offered by the Prometheus platform.
It is pleasure to note that Master’s students understand the importance of acquiring modern additional knowledge, relevant skills and competences that are critical to meet the requirements of today’s dynamic environment and are actively involved in non-formal education.
A significant advantage when looking for and obtaining a job and moving up the career ladder is the possession of business communication skills in a foreign language. They allow to create effective presentations of own and corporate achievements, quickly and efficiently resolve business issues with foreign partners, and help expand business contacts and develop the business in general.
As part of the optional training, Masters of the International Accounting and Taxation Programme had the opportunity to learn about the concept of an entrepreneur and motivation for entrepreneurship, the basics of market research and working with business information, developing and structuring a business plan, attracting investors, as well as business phrases and forms in English used in various aspects of the practical activities of a modern entrepreneurs abroad (“English for Business and Entrepreneurship”).
Young people who are just looking for a job will find useful tips on how to write their CVs, the key competences to look for when searching for different jobs, how to prepare a cover letter, the basics of networking and self-presentation, and how to prepare for and passing an interview (“English for Career Development”).
The additional materials offered in both courses were very useful – verbal and printed interviews with successful entrepreneurs, cases of product development and sales, stories about the peculiarities of entrepreneurships in specific countries of Africa and Asia; as well as specific examples of how society affects career and life planning in the modern world, practical advice on how to successfully prepare documents and pass an interview, as well as further successful promotion in the profession.
To test and consolidate their knowledge of both courses, students were asked to complete additional practical tasks and take tests that helped them systematize and better understand the new information.
We believe that acquiring additional knowledge and skills in business communication in English is a long-term contribution of students to strengthening their competitive advantages in the labor market.
