XVIII. Conference of Transcarpathian Scientific Student Circle at Rákóczi College

The Conference of Transcarpathian Scientific Student Circle (KTDK) was held for the eighteenth time on 17 May. The event was jointly organised by the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College of Higher Education (RF KMF II) and the “GENIUS” Charity Foundation, with the professional partnership of HTDK – TDK Without Borders, at the Rákóczi College.

The KTDK aims to encourage Hungarian-language professional self-training and networking among young people studying in higher education in Transcarpathia. It helps create new scientific and human connections between young university and college researchers in the region and their respective workshops, as well as deepening existing relationships.

The attendees were welcomed by Dr. Natália Váradi, the professional organizer of the event, an associate professor at the college, and the office director of the “GENIUS” Charity Foundation.

“We organize our conference annually in alignment with the Ukrainian Science Day, and we are delighted that so many talented young people have registered for this year’s KTDK,”

she said, introducing the jury members of the sections.

István Gyebnár, temporary chargé d’affaires of the Consulate of Hungary in Beregszász, also conveyed the greetings of József Bacskai, consul general of the Consulate General of Hungary in Ungvár, emphasising that the Conference of Transcarpathian Scientific Student Circle is a great platform for talented students to showcase their talents in a worthy manner.

“Today, I had three main thoughts in mind: being present, sticking together and staying normal. We are present at this conference, we are sticking together, because the HTDK – TDK Without Borders programme is trying to bring together all the areas where Hungarians are engaged in scientific work, and I hope that in this troubled world we can remain normal”,

said Tamás Weiszburg, president of the National Council of Scientific Students (OTT).

In her greeting, Ildikó Orosz, president of the Rákóczi College, recalled the text on the banner of Ferenc Rákóczi II, which says, “God does not abandon a good cause.”

“We are witnesses to this. Despite the wartime circumstances, we have managed to hold the Conference of Transcarpathian Scientific Student Circle on the occasion of the Ukrainian Science Day, with more than 40 presenters participating,”

she added.

In his speech, István Csernicskó, rector of our college, mentioned that prior to the KTDK, he attended an online conference opening organized by the University of Kharkiv in collaboration with our college. He expressed that if they can have faith in the future near the front line, then we in Transcarpathia can also have hope for a better future.

“Science and education are pursued by those who believe in the future. At this conference, we also trust that those who present their scientific work today can become teachers, lecturers and professors in the future,”

he concluded.

Following the opening, sectional meetings took place where students presented their work to a professional jury. In the seven sections – Biology, Tourism, Geography (Population Geography), Geography (Natural and Social Geography), Accounting and Taxation, Learning and Teaching Methodology, and History – 42 presentations were given and evaluated by 41 professionals.

Before announcing the results, Tamás Weiszburg, president of the OTT, congratulated the successful work.

“My advice to everyone is not to worry about their ranking at the OTDK but to focus on bringing out the best in themselves,”

he added.

In his closing remarks, István Csernicskó, the rector of our institution, thanked the organisers and the professors for their work in guiding students along the path of science.

The section leaders briefly summarized the day’s events and reviewed the presented works. The conference concluded with the awarding of certificates of recognition.
