Rákóczi Days at the College in Beregszász
Every year, the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College traditionally organizes the Rákóczi Days, a series of events commemorating the birthday of the College’s namesake, Prince Rákóczi. This year, for the 18th time, the College is organizing the Rákóczi Days between 26-31 March.
The programme of the Rákóczi Days started on Sunday 26 March with the traditional Rákóczi Cup competition.
On Monday 27 March, the opening ceremony of the Rákóczi Days took place. On this occasion, the management, teachers and students of our college laid wreaths at the equestrian statue of Ferenc Rákóczi II located in the center of Beregszász. During the wreath-laying ceremony, the choir of the Rákóczi College’s Vocational High School performed the song “Csínom Palkó” from the Kuruc era, and Rákóczi melodies were played on tárogató by Ferenc Csetneki and Ferenc Csetneki Jr.
Afterwards, those present laid the wreaths of tribute at the busts of Ferenc Rákóczi II and Ilona Zrínyi in the building of the college.
In the second half of the day, awards established by the institution were presented.
