Festive Scientific Council at the Rákóczi College

The Scientific Council of Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College held its next ceremonial meeting on 27 March within the framework of the Rákóczi Days.

At the beginning of the event, those present sang together the anthem of our college, Rákóczi’s prayer. Then they greeted the guests of the festive council meeting and presented the agenda items.

The attendees were greeted by István Csernicskó, rector of Rákóczi College.

“The Rákóczi Days event series is a festive period in the life of the institution when we celebrate together. After all, there are moments in the life of every institution when we have to be together and show who we are and where we are. This is one of those days,”

he emphasized.

Then, as the first item on the agenda of the Council meeting, Sándor Berghauer, Secretary of the Scientific Council, informed the participants about the implementation of the Council’s decisions and the decrees of the President and Rector. In his speech, he emphasized in particular the implementation of the regulations on current tasks and their deadlines.

Subsequently, Gyula Fodor, Vice-Rector, informed the participants about the further training and career development of the teaching and research staff of Rákóczi College. He explained that 13 colleagues representing 6 departments participated in further training and mobility programmes.

Then Dóra Mónus, lecturer at the Rákóczi College’s Philology Department performed Sándor Petőfi’s poem “Képzetem”.

Subsequently, Ildikó Orosz, President of Rákóczi College, István Csernicskó, Rector and Bettina Farkas, President of the Student Council of the college signed a contract for the provision of the conditions of the Student Council’s activity. Following the signing of the contract, the choir of College performed a rendition of Psalm 42.

Then the awards established by the Rákóczi College were presented. The awards and certificates were handed over by Ildikó Orosz and István Csernicskó.

The Rákóczi Prize was awarded in a festive ceremony, in recognition of the activities of persons who have played a decisive role in the establishment of independent Hungarian-language higher education in Transcarpathia and in the survival and development of the college. The prize is annually awarded to two persons – one from the motherland or abroad and one from Transcarpathia. According to the decision of the College Council, the winner of the 2022 Rákóczi Prize in Hungary is Tibor Szabó, former Chairman of the Office for Hungarians Beyond the Borders and mayor of Martonvásár.

The mayor was unable to attend in person at the opening ceremony of the college academic year, but today he was able to receive his award.

“When you are in a government position, you are given a myriad of honors that are meant for the position. But, I feel that today’s award was given to me from the heart, it was given to me personally, and I am very grateful for that,”

Tibor Szabó said, thanking the award.

Next, Leila Seres, a student of the Zoltan Kodaly Fine Arts School in Beregszász, performed Béla Bartók’s “Este a székelyeknél”.

This year, the following lecturers received certificates of recognition for their scientific achievements: Dr. Béla Fiser, Associate Professor of the Department of Biology and Chemistry, Dr. Viktor Bódi, Associate Professor of the Department of Mathematics and Informatics, Olena Bida, Head of the Department of Pedagogy, Psychology, Teacher, Kindergarten Education, Education and Institutional Management.

Éva Halász, a 2008 graduate of RF KMF II, teacher at the Haranglábi High School, Mária Bara, a 2013 graduate of the RF KMF II, a kindergarten teacher at the No. 6 Mese Kindergarten in Beregszász, and Zoltán Horváth, 2012 graduate of the RF KMF II, teacher at the No. 4 Kossuth Lajos Lyceum in Beregszász received certificates of recognition for their outstanding professional achievements.

Ibolya Szász, Administrator of the Apáczai teachers’ guest house and István Gazdag, staff member of the Technical-Operations Group (carpenter) were awarded certificates of appreciation for their excellent work in administrative and technical posts.

After the presentation of the certificates, the choir of the Rákóczi College Vocational High School performed the song “Ha én rózsa volnék“.

The last part of the festive Council meeting was the ceremonial awarding of certificates to graduates of the courses run by the College’s Adult Education Centre. Natália Váradi, Head of the Adult Education Centre, welcomed the participants. She pointed out that the courses were open for applications from September to October. During this period, 116 students applied for English, German, Hungarian and Ukrainian language courses, 36 of whom passed their exams and received their certificates.

The students received their certificates from Ildiko Orosz, István Csernicskó and Natália Váradi.
