Central opening of the school year at the Egan Ede Vocational Training Centre
The central opening ceremony of the Ede Egán Vocational Training Centre of the Ferenc Rakoczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College of Higher Education was held on 8 September. At the event, teachers and students from the Beregszász, Nagydobrony and Tiszapéterfalva centres celebrated the start of the new academic year together in the Reformed Church of Tiszapéterfalva.
This year 148 first-year students started their studies at the vocational training centre.
Zoltán Csirpák, the director of the centre, expressed his joy at the number of first-year students, adding that 152 students are enrolled in the second year of vocational training. He mentioned that automotive mechatronics technician (auto mechanic) is the most popular profession, and there are also many students studying in the hairdressing and cooking programs. The profession of electrician is on the rise, with high demand in our region.
The vocational training centre started in 2019 with 110 students in Nagydobrony.
The aim is to provide young Hungarians in Transcarpathia with marketable skills. Today, nearly 300 students in three municipalities are participating in dual education.
Thanks to the dual education, students spend alternately one week in Transcarpathia and one week in partner institutions in Hungary – in the Mátészalka Vocational Training Centre and the Northern Agricultural Vocational Training Centre – to improve their theoretical and practical skills.
