Christmas celebrations at the Rákóczi College

For many years, the English Language and Literature Branch of the Philology Department has been organising the official Christmas greeting programme of the college. This year’s event took place on 18 December and was enthusiastically prepared by the students majoring in English. Students from all year groups actively participated in the performances.

To start the event, the first year students performed the atmospheric historical English country dance “Black Nag”. Then the FRIGy Band took to the stage, performing traditional Christmas carols.

The second-year students annually make a video that is linked to student life and the theme of Christmas. We were able to watch one of these short videos. The funny scenes were a good reflection of student life.

Then we listened to a performance by Natália Nagy of Endre Ady’s Karácsonyi Rege, which put us in the mood for the festive season even more.

She was followed by the third-year students who brought us a Christmas performance.

At the end of the programme, they sang together the carol Silent Night in English, Ukrainian and Hungarian, creating a real Christmas atmosphere in the Gross Arnold Hall.
