Exploring creative thinking and innovations: a guest lecture by professor from the University of Westminster
On April 15, 2024, students from the Economics Department, the Department of English Philology, and the College of the FR II THCHE were privileged to attend a guest lecture delivered by Professor Christos Kalantaridis, an expert in entrepreneurship and innovation from the University of Westminster.
Currently Prof. C. Kalantaridis works as the Head of Westminster Business School and Pro Vice Chancellor for Teaching Excellence and the Student Experience, University of Westminster (London, Great Britain). He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His research career is on the interface between entrepreneurship and innovation. First visited Ukraine in 1997 as part of a British Council funded project. Continued collaborating with colleagues from different Universities in Ukraine until 2015 until got more involved in University management. Prof. C. Kalantaridis has a PhD and an MSc in Economic Development from the University of Salford and a BSc in Economics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece).
The lecture aimed to develop an understanding of the interface between creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial opportunities, as well as focus attention on critical perception of innovation in the light of theory and in practice.
On the example of specific cases and active questions to the listeners, the lecturer prompted the participants to the following insights:
“Creativity can be learned, and innovation can be practiced.
These are not individual sports!
Creativity and innovation unfold over time!
Theory matters!”
