The International Tourist Guide Day was celebrated at the Rákóczi College

The World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations has been celebrating International Tourist Guide Day on 21 February since 1990. The occasion was also commemorated by the Department of Earth Sciences and Tourism of the Ferenc Rákóczi II. Transcarpathian Hungarian College.

In the framework of the event, the 3rd year students of the Tourism Department organised a guided tour of Beregszász for the students of the Arany János Lyceum in Mezőkaszony, the Bethlen Gábor Lyceum in Beregszász and the Platan Lyceum in Beregszász, with the last stop being the Rákóczi College.

The children not only listened to the students’ lectures, but also had the opportunity to explore the city’s sights interactively by reading QR codes at several points and answering questions. They then visited the college’s Jenő Barkáts Mineral and Stone Collection and the Katalin Polónyi Museum of Textiles and the Bereg woven products, where they viewed interesting collections of exhibits.

“Last semester, the tourism students also took a course in guiding. Today is also a good professional practice for them, they can experience what it is like to guide a group of people,”

said Enikő Karmacsi Sass, lecturer of the Department of Earth Sciences and Tourism.
