Katalin Szili’s visit to the Rákóczi College

Katalin Szili, the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy on autonomy issues beyond the borders and Ferenc Kalmár, Ministerial Commissioner in charge of Hungary’s Neighbourhood Policy, visited the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College on 19 January.

The Prime Minister’s Envoy and the Ministerial Commissioner held a private meeting with members of the College’s management, President Ildikó Orosz, Rector István Csernicskó and members of the management of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association (THCA).

During their visit, Katalin Szili and Ferenc Kalmár were briefed by the leaders of the THCA and the leaders of our college on the situation of the Hungarian community and education in Transcarpathia.

Ildikó Orosz and István Csernicskó spoke about the situation of the college and the everydays that affects our lives in the current war situation in Ukraine. They also informed Katalin Szili and Ferenc Kalmár that the Rákóczi College is developing, the college and its related institutions – the Vocational High School, the Katalin Frangepán High School, the Egan Ede Vocational Training Centre and the Tulipán Tanoda – are fulfilling their functions. The leaders of our College have outlined further plans to maintain and operate the Hungarian education system in Transcarpathia.
