Our college also participated in the Rákóczi festival in Borsi

A celebration was held in Borsi on 24 March  in honor of the birth of Prince Ferenc Rákóczi II.

At the impressive event, over a hundred representatives from Transcarpathia, including the Pro Cultura Subcarpathica civil organization, the Ferenc Rakoczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College of Higher Education, Rákóczi College’s Vocational High School, and the P. Katalin Frangepán Grammar School, were present.

The celebration took place at the Rákóczi Castle, which underwent extensive monument restoration in 2022. Similar to last year’s grand celebration, this year’s event also enjoyed widespread attendance.

As part of the program, participants of the pilgrimage train arriving at the Borsi railway station, including the Transcarpathian delegation, joined a procession of several hundred people, heading towards the Rákóczi Castle.

At the opening ceremony of the event, Miklós Soltész, Secretary of State for Churches, Minorities and Civil Affairs at the Prime Minister’s Office, emphasized that Rákóczi still sets an example of respect and love for the nation.

Miklós Soltész also stated that opportunities for alliance and cooperation must be sought with the nations living in the Carpathian Basin. As he said:

“In the Carpathian Basin, nations have been and still are dependent on each other, which is why reconciliation among them is very important. This is a region that can only count on itself, and if there is peace between the nations, then the intrigues of the great powers can be avoided.”

He added:

“Nowadays, the greatest value in the world is to live in peace and alliance with the nations around us.”

After the opening, attendees laid wreaths at the bust of Ferenc Rákóczi II. Following this, the program continued with concerts. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the exhibition in the castle.
